Alvor / Faro / Portugal

We live in the sunny Algarve but also have a '2 bed apartment in historic Yorkshire' (Ripponden), England, both of which we would swap for Sydney. Our 4 bed, 4 bath villa in Portugal is 10 mins drive from the pretty fishing village of Alvor with its lively bars and restaurants. We are 10 minutes from superb beaches with 6 golf courses close by and are near historical towns of Portimao, Silves and Lagos. We live in a select residential area of individual properties in beautiful countryside with good local restaurants and supermarkets. There's wine tasting at our local winery. We have bikes, swimming pool and garden with flowers, fruit and veg. Two log fires and air con / heating. English TV. Cleaner twice a week, gardener and pool man. Prefer to swap from mid Jan to mid March 2011. Portugal at this time is mostly warm and sunny in the day but cold at night.

Beautiful beaches with golden sand and sunbeds, beach bars and restaurants 10 minutes away - there are surf beaches or an hour drive away on the west coast. There are quaint villages with typical Portuguese tiled houses. We are in the heart of Portugal's golfing country with wonderful courses closeby. Good walking and cycling in picturesque countryside, we live in the foothills of Monchique. Silves with its Moorish castle, Sagres from where the Portuguese explorers set sail, the Ria Formosa lagoon with seahorses, as well as roman ruins are all nearby. Come for culture, sport and natural beauty.

Comment s'y rendre ?

Faro airport is 50 minutes drive away, Seville airport is 2 hours drive and Lisbon is 2 hours drive. Then it's motorway all the way. A very easy drive. A taxi costs about 60 Euros. You can also get the train from Faro to Portimao.
